摘要
TheaddedresistanceofKVLCC2inshortandregularheadwaveshasbeenstudiedtheoreticallyandexperimentally.Modeltestsareperformedtodeterminehowwelltheasymptoticformula(Faltinsenetal.1980)predictsthetypicallevelofaddedresistanceinshortwaves.Becausetheasymptoticformulaneglectstheeffectsofshipmotions,itiscombinedwiththeoreticalmethodstocalculatetheaddedresistanceinlongwavesusinganfunctiontopredicttheaddedresistanceintheintermediatewavelengthregionwherebothshipmotionsandwavereflectionareimportant.Auniquefeatureofthisexperimentisthattheshipmodelisdividedintothreesegmentstoexploretheaddedresistancedistributionwithrespecttohullsegment.Thispaperdiscussesthesensitivityofexperimentalresultstothequalityoftheincidentregularheadwaves.Moreover,anovelprocedureforanalyzingaddedresistanceisdescribed.Finally,theexperimentallydeterminedaddedresistanceofKVLCC2iscomparedwiththeoreticalresults.Itisshownthattheaddedresistancefromthecombinedtheoreticalmethodsagreeswellwithexperimentalresultsinboththeintermediateandshortwaveregions.Theuseofhullsegmentsshowsthataddedresistanceisconcentratedprimarilyatthebow.
