摘要 Waterisanimportantcomponentinplantcellswithplantaquaporinbeingthemajorproteinforwatertransportinandbetweenplantcells.Asasubfamilyofplantaquaporins,theplasmamembraneintrinsicproteins(PIPs)locatedintheplasmamembraneareclassic,highwater,selectivechannelproteins.ThispaperfocusesonrecentadvancesinthemolecularbiologyofPIPsconcerningstructuralcharacteristics,biologicalfunction,andaregulationmechanism.PIPspossesstwohighlyconserveddomains:GGGANXXXXGYandTGI/TNPARSL/FGAAI/VI/VFWF/YN.PIPscanalsobedividedintotwophylogeneticsubgroupsnamedPIP1andPIP2.PIP1possesseslongerNterminalsequencesandshorterCterminalsequencesthanPIP2withconservedaminoacidsequencesrespectively.StudiesoftransgenicplantsandexpressioninXenopusoocytescellsindicatethatPIPsnotonlymayfacilitatetransportofwaterandsmallneutralsoluteslikeCO2andglycerin,buttheyalsopossessmanyphysiologicalfunctions.Thefunctionsofplantaquaporinsareregulatedbymanyfactorsincludingpost-translationalmodification,heteromerization,pHvalue,anddivalentcations.TheseresultsindicatedthatPIPsactasapivotalroleinwaterandsmallneutralsolutestransportinplants.
