摘要
Plantleafisanaturalcompositebiomaterial,anditsstrengthiscloselyrelatedtothemicrostructure.Inthispaper,themechanicalcharacteristicsofeightspeciesofplantleaveswereinvestigatedandanalyzed.Theultimatestrengthofleavesandthehardnessofleafsurfacesweremeasuredbyusinguniversaltestingmachineandnanoindentertester,respectively.Thetensilestrengthoftheparallelmicrostructurewasinvestigatedbasedonitscross-sectionalmechanicalmodel.Theresultsoftensiontestsindicatethattheultimatestrengthofaleafisrelatedtothematerialcompositionandstructure.Thecoriaceousleavesusuallyexhibithighertensilestrength.Forexample,thePhyllostachyspubescensleafcanachievethemaximumultimatestrengthof5.9091N·mm-2.Itisconcludedfromtheresultsofhardnessteststhatmaterialcomponentsofleafsurfacecaninfluencethesurfacehardnessevidently.Theleafsurfacecomposedofmoreligninandcellulosematerialsshowsahighersurfacehardnessthanthatcomposedofmorecarbohydratesmaterials.
