Polarization-Dependent Optimization of Fiber-Coupled Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy System

摘要 Theoptimizationofthefiber-coupledterahertztime-domainspectroscopy(THz-TDS)systemisperformedbychangingthepolarizationoftheopticalexcitationpulsecenteredat1550nm.InGaAs/InAlAsmultilayerstructuresbasedphotoconductiveantennasareusedinTDSsetupasboththeemitterandreceiver.TheexperimentalresultsdemonstratethatnotonlytheTHzsignalpowerbutalsothetemporalwaveformvarywiththerotationoftheexcitingpulsepolarization.Maximumoutputpoweroftheemitterisobtainedwhenthepolarizationofthepumppulseisperpendiculartotheedgeofthemetalelectrodes.AtthismomenttheTHzwaveformisclosetoasingle-cycledpulse.However,doubleTHzpulsescouldberecordedwhenthepumplaserpolarizationisparalleltotheelectrodes.Laserpulsesplittinginducedbythebirefringenceoftheopticalfibermayattributetothepolarizationdependentperformanceofthefiber-coupledTHz-TDSsystem.
