IntheprocessoflearningEnglish,proficiencyinvocabularyisthekeypointtostudyalanguagewell.Obviously,it’sverycrucialtoknowabouttheoriginandhistoryofthewords.ResearchonEnglishetymologyisconducivetomemory,interpretationandunderstandingofthewords.Generallyspeaking,EnglishetymologyiscloselyconnectedwithBritishhistory.WesternculturealsohasexertedprofoundimpactonEnglishetymology,whichleadstoconsiderableborrowingspouringintoEnglishvocabulary.Inbrief,thisdissertationwillinquireintoEnglishetymologypreliminarily.
