IntroductionInthisarticle,I’dliketodescribeawritingactivityIusetoimprovemystudents’writingability.Theactivityisatypeofjournal-keepingforcollege-Englishstudents.Iaskthestudentstowritesomethingatregularintervals.Itcanbeofanylength.Iftheydon’thaveanythingspecifictowriteabout,theycanwritesummariesordiscussionsabouttextsfromtheirEnglishclass.Theythensubmittheassignmentbyafixeddeadline.Theresultshavebeensatisfactory.Moststudentshandedinsomesortofworkontime,coveringawiderangeoftopicsfrompersonalmatters(suchasworriesandambitions),interests(suchashobbies,friendsandhometowns)tosomethingrelatedtotheirEnglishclass(summaries,discussionsoreventranscriptionsofmodelparagraphs).Stimulatedbyimmediatefeedbackfromtheteacher,theactivityhascontinuedthroughthewholecollege-Englishlearningperiod.
