Although,theessenceofotopointsremainsunknownatthemoment,manymedicalworkershavetermedthemtemporarilyas"auricularspecificstimulatingpoints".Theygiveanexplanationthatwhentheinternalorgansorthebodytrunkisoutoforder,tenderpoints,changesofthecutaneouselectricalresistance,appearance,colour,etc.mayoccuratsomesitesoftheauri-cle.Themedicalworkerscanusethesereactionsasareferenceformakingadiagnosisandstimulatethesesitestopreventandtreatdiseases.Thesereactionpointsarealsotheotopoint.Therefore,theotopointisalsocalledastenderpoint,orgoodconductionpoint,reactionpoint,stimulatingpointortreatmentpoint.
