Interaction of activity involvement and recreational location selection behavior in Lowland City: A case study of public parks in Saga City, Japan

摘要 Publicparksprovidemanybenefitstothecommunityastherepresentativesofgreenarea.Theallocationofpublicplacesplaysanextremelyimportantroleinthedailylivesofinhabitantsespeciallyforrecreationalusethatcouldenhancethequalityoflifeofresidentsinthevicinity.Tounderstandparkusers'behaviorisoneofthemostimportantprerequisitesforassessingtheparticipationinpublicservicefromtheparkusers'pointofview.Thepatternofparkutilizationonlocationandactivityselectionareimportantelementsinbehavioralstudy,whilethepublicparkstopographmayalsoinfluencethetypicaluser'sbehavior.Questionnairesurveyonparkutilizationwasusedtoinvestigatetheinteractionbetweenactivityinvolvementandrecreationallocationwiththeuseoflineardiscriminantanalysis(LDA)model.Thestudyfoundthatpublicparkusers'behaviorisinfluencednotonlybysocialcharacteristicsbutalsobytherecreationalactivitiesandtheirspecificlocationcharacteristics.Wefoundthatabout45percentofparkvisitorsarelocalresidentslivingwithinaradiusof3kmpreferredtraveltoparksneartheirresidentialarea.Thisimpliesthatlocationselectionbehavioriscorrelatedwithtraveldistance,traveltimeandtravelcost.Visitfrequenciesandonsiteexpendituresreflecttherecreationbehaviorfordifferenttypeofactivities.Theoverallinformationcanbeusefullyappliedbydecisionmakerstolaunchappropriatepublicpolicyinconsistencewiththeusefulresultsofthisstudy.
