Experimental study on full-scale steel beam-to-column moment connections

摘要 Tenfull-scalesteelbeam-to-columnmomentconnectionsusedinmoment-resistingframes(MRFs)weretestedtostudythefailureprocess,failuremode,strengthandplasticrotationcapacity.Thespecimensincludeonetraditionalweldedflange-boltedwebconnection,onetraditionalfullyweldedconnection,fourbeamflangestrengthenedconnections,threebeamflangeweakenedconnections,andonethrough-diaphragmconnection.ThetestresultsshowthattheconnectionswithflangecoverplatesorwithpartlycutbeamflangessatisfythebeamplasticrotationdemandforductileMRFs.Fromthemeasuredstressprofilesalongthebeamflangeandbeamwebdepth,themechanicsofbrittlefractureattheendofthebeamisdiscussed.Designrecommendationsforsteelbeam-to-columnmomentconnectionsareproposed.
