ANALYSIS OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL EDGE CRACKS UNDER TENSILE LOADING

摘要 Three-dimensionaledgecracksareanalyzedusingtheSelf-SimilarCrackExpansion(SSCE)methodwithaboundaryintegralequationtechnique.TheboundaryintegralequationsforsurfacecracksinahalfspacearepresentedbasedonahalfspaceGreen’sfunction(Mindlin,1936).ByusingtheSSCEmethod,thestressintensityfactorsaredeterminedbythecrack-openingdisplacementoverthecracksurface.Indiscreteboundaryintegralequations,theregularandsingularintegralsonthecracksur-faceelementsareevaluatedbyananalyticalmethod,andtheclosedformexpressionsoftheintegralsaregivenforsubsurfacecracksandedgecrakcs.Thisgloballynumericalandlocallyanalyticalmethodim-provesthesolutionaccuracyandcomputationaleffort.Numericalresultsforedgecracksundertensileloadingwithvariousgeometries,suchasrectangularcracks,ellipticalcracks,andsemi-circularcracks,arepresentedusingtheSSCEmethod.Resultsforstressintensityfactorsofthosesurfacebreakingcracksareingoodagreementwithothernumericalandanalyticalsolutions.
