简介:Inthisarticle,the2-Dunsteadyviscousflowaroundtwocircularcylindersinatandemarrangementisnumericallysimulatedinordertostudythecharacteristicsoftheflowinbothlaminarandturbulentregimes.ThemethodappliedalternativelyisbasedonthefinitevolumemethodonaCartesian-staggeredgrid.Thegreatsourcetermtechniqueisemployedtoidentifythecylindersplacedintheflowfield.Toapplytheboundaryconditions,theghost-celltechniqueisused.Theimplementedcomputationalmethodisfirstlyvalidatedthroughsimulationoflaminarandturbulentflowsaroundafixedcircularcylinder.Finally,theflowaroundtwocircularcylindersinatandemarrangementissimulatedandanalyzed.Theflowvisualizationparameters,theStrouhalnumbers,anddragandliftcoefficientsarecomprehensivelypresentedandcomparedfordifferentcasesinordertorevealtheeffectoftheReynoldsnumberandgapspacingonthebehavioroftheflow.Theobtainedresultshaveshowntwocompletelydistinctflowcharacteristicsinlaminarandturbulentregimes.
