简介:Thisstudyproposesanewelectromagneticrectangularmixer,andnumericallyexaminesthemixingcharacteristicsoftwodifferentelectrolytesolutionsinthedeviceunderauniformmagneticfield.Themixerconsistsofaconduitwithelectrodesequippedonitstopandbottomwalls.Thedifferenceintheelectricpotentialsappliedtothesetsofelectrodesinducesthecurrent.ThecombinationoftheinducedcurrentandmagneticfieldyieldsLorentzforce,resultinginthefluidmotionforpumpingandmixingofthetwodifferentfluids.ThenumericalsimulationiscarriedoutwiththeuseofcommercialsoftwareCFX.Thepresentnumericalmodelisvalidatedbyanexistingnumericalwork.Theeffectofdifferentvariablesonmixingefficiencyisinvestigatedinmanydifferentcaseswithtwodifferentheightsoftheductandvariousinputvoltagesoftheelectrodes.Thecurrentsimulationresultsindicatethatthemixingperformancecanbeenhancedbyusingmultiplesetsofelectrodesandapplyinghigherinputvoltages(absolutevalues)totheelectrodes.
