简介:Basedonthestrongearthquakecatalogue,thispaperdiscussesthecharacteristicsofthetimeseriesofstrongearthquakeactivitiesintheworld,westernChinesemainlandanditsperipheral"bigtriangleseismicregion",aswellastheChinesemainland.AccordingtotheanalysisoftheperiodicfeaturesofglobalseismicityofM≥8.0strongevents,itisfoundthatthereissignificantdifferenceinglobalseismicitybeforeandafterthe1960s.StatisticalanalysiswiththeFishermethodhasrevealedthatthe"bigtriangularseismicregion"hasexperiencedaprocessofM8.0earthquakeactivitywithadurationofoverahundredyearssince1800.Furtheranalysisshowsthattheglobalseismicityandthe"bigtriangularseismicregion"possiblyhasaperiodofahundred-yearscale,andhasquasisynchronicitytoacertainextent.TheshallowearthquakeactivityofMS≥7.0intheChinesemainlandisobviouslycontrolledbytheseismicityinthebigtriangularseismicregionandbyglobalseismicityinalargerspatial-scale.Intermsofthetimeseriesoftheseearthquakes,theseismicityshowsadecadalandcentury-scaleactivitypatterns.
