  • 简介:Weexperimentallydemonstrateself-trappingoflight,asaresultofplasmonicresonantopticalnonlinearity,inbothaqueousandorganic(toluene)suspensionsofgoldnanorods.Thethresholdpowerforsolitonformationisgreatlyreducedintolueneasopposedtoaqueoussuspensions.Itiswellknownthattheopticalgradientforcesareoptimizedatoff-resonancewavelengthsatwhichsuspendedparticlestypicallyexhibitastrongpositive(ornegative)polarizability.However,surprisingly,aswetunethewavelengthoftheopticalbeamfromacontinuous-wave(CW)laser,wefindthatthethresholdpowerisreducedbymorethanthreefoldattheplasmonicresonancefrequency.Byanalyzingtheopticalforcesandtorqueactingonthenanorods,weshowtheoreticallythatitispossibletoalignthenanorodsinsideasolitonwaveguidechannelintoorthogonalorientationsbyusingmerelytwodifferentlaserwavelengths.Weperformaseriesofexperimentstoexaminethetransmissionofthesoliton-formingbeamitself,aswellasthepolarizationtransmissionspectrumofalow-powerprobebeamguidedalongthesolitonchannel.Itisfoundthattheexpectedsyntheticanisotropicpropertiesaretoosubtletobeclearlyobserved,inlargepartduetoBrownianmotionofthesolventmoleculesandalimitedorderingregionwheretheopticalfieldfromtheself-trappedbeamisstrongenoughtoovercomethermodynamicfluctuations.Theabilitytoachievetunablenonlinearityandnanorodorientationsincolloidalnanosuspensionswithlow-powerCWlaserbeamsmayleadtointerestingapplicationsinall-opticalswitchingandtransparentdisplaytechnologies.

  • 简介:Westudiedthenear-fieldpropertiesoflocalizedsurfaceplasmonresonancesinfinitelineargoldnanochainsusingphotoemissionelectronmicroscopy(PEEM).Thelocalizationoftheelectromagneticfieldinthenear-fieldregionwasmappedathighspatialresolution.Bytuningtheexcitationlaserwavelength,wecanobtainthenear-fieldspectra,fromwhichtheenergysplittingbetweenlongitudinal(L)andtransverse(T)plasmonmodescanberevealed.Inparticular,theL-moderedshiftsandtheT-modeblueshiftswithincreasingchainlength.TheredshiftoftheL-modeishighlydependentonthegapdistance.Incontrast,theT-modealmostremainsconstantwithintherangeofgapdistanceweinvestigated.ThisenergysplittingbetweentheL-modeandtheT-modeofmetallicchainsisinagreementwithpreviousfar-fieldmeasurements,whereitwasexplainedbydipole-dipolenear-fieldcoupling.Here,weprovidedirectproofofthisnear-fieldplasmoncouplinginnanochainsviatheabove-describednear-fieldmeasurementsusingPEEM.Inaddition,weexploretheenergytransportalongthegoldnanochainsunderexcitationatobliqueilluminationviaPEEMmeasurementstogetherwithnumericalsimulations.

  • 简介:Herein,wereportthevictorioussynthesisofmetal-organicframeworks(MOFs)onTiO2nanotubes(NTs)usingalayer-by-layer(LbL)approach.HighlycrystallineandhomogenousthinfilmsofMOFsweregrownandcharacterizedusingXRD,SEM,FT-IRandUV/Visspectroscopy.Moreover,theutilizationoftheMOFfilmsassensitizerswasprobedinbespokeGraetzeltypeliquidjunctionsolarcells.TheconstructedcellperformancerevealedanIscof1.16mAcm–2,Vocof0.63V,FFof0.33,andEffof0.42%.Further,pumpprobetransientlaserspectroscopywasperformedtoinvestigatetheenergyandchargetransferdynamicsoftheMOFs/TiO2NTsinterface.Theresultsindicated86%injectionefficiency.Theultrafastpump-probespectroscopyallowstheinvestigationofthisprocessandthedifferencesbetweenMOFs.ItalsoshowedthattherelaxationoftheMOFchromophoresisincompetitionwithelectroninjectionintheTiO2motif.Thusthisstudyprovidesanewinsightintoelectrontransferfromphotoexcitedmetal-organicframeworks(MOFs)intotitaniumdioxide.

  • 简介:Aseriesofflexiblepoly(m-phenyleneisophthalamide)(PMIA)-basedcompositeswithdifferentsizesandmassfractionsofhexagonalboronnitride(hBN)weresuccessfullymanufacturedforthefirsttimeviathecastingtechnique.TheeffectsofmodifiedhBNparticlesonmicrostructure,mechanicalproperties,dielectricpropertiesandthermalconductivitiesoffabricatedcompositeswereinvestigated.TheresultsindicatethatmodifiedhBNparticlesmanifestgoodcompatibilitywiththePMIAmatrix.TheYoung'smodulusandTheat-resistanceindexofPMIA-basedcompositesareincreasedwithincreasingthemassfractionofhBNparticles.Duetoadditionalthermalconductivepathsandnetworksformedbynano-sizedhBNparticles,theK-m/n-hBN-30compositedisplaysthethermalconductivityof0.94W·m^-1·K^-1higherthanthatoftheK-m-hBN-30composite(0.86W·m^-1·K^-1),andmorethan4timeshigherthanthatofneatPMIA.Moreover,theobtainedPMIA-basedcompositesalsoshowlowdielectricconstantandidealdielectricloss.Owingtotheexcellentcomprehensiveperformance,hBN/PMIAcompositespresentpotentialapplicationsinthebroadfieldofelectronicmaterials.
