  • 简介:Pitchisoneofthemostimportantauditoryperceptioncharacteristicsofsound;however,themechanismunderlyingthepitchperceptionofsoundisunclear.Althoughtheoreticalresearcheshavesuggestedthatperceptionofvirtualpitchisconnectedwithphysicsincochleaofinnerear,thereisnodirectexperimentalobservationofvirtualpitchprocessinginthecochlea.Bylaserinterferometry,weobserveshiftphenomenaofvirtualpitchinbasilarmembranevibrationofexsomatizedcochlea,whichisconsistentwithperceptualpitchshiftobservedinpsychoacousticexperiments.Thismeansthatthecomplexmechanicalvibrationofbasilarmembraneincochleaplaysanimportantroleinpitchinformationprocessingduringhearing.

  • 简介:TheresearchaimistoinvestigatethathowpitchanddurationaffecttheperceptionoftheneutraltoneinstandardChineseandthatwhichoneofthetwofactorsismoreimportant.Apsycho-acousticexperimentwasconducted,inwhichthelisteningstimuliconsistedof15groupsofdisyllabicwords,andthepitchesanddurationsofthetwosyllablesineachofthewordswereartificiallycontrolled.Thirty-threestandardChinesenativespeakersparticipatedinaforced-choicetasktojudgeifthesecondsyllablesofthewordstheyheardcarriedtheneutraltoneorthenormaltones.Theresultsoftheexperimentindicatedthat,(1)theeffectsofbothpitchanddurationontheperceptionoftheneutraltonearesignificant;(2)theeffectofpitchislargerthanthatofduration;(3)boththeF0valuesofthehighpointinthepitchcontourandthepitchcontourpatternhaveinfluenceontheperception.Theresultsoftheexperimentwerecorrespondenttosomeextenttothoseofthepreviousacousticanalysesontheneutraltone.Thediversitybetweentheresultsofthepresentedperceptualstudyandthoseoftheacousticalstudiesimpliesthattheacousticfeaturesoftheneutraltonethatexistinnaturalspeechwhiledonotaffecttheperceptionmaybephonologicallyredundant.

  • 简介:Wepresentastudyofthenonlinearcouplinginternalresonancefortheheaverollandpitchperformanceofasparplatformunderthewaveandvortex-inducedloadswhentheratioofthefrequenciesofheave,rollandpitchareapproximately2:1:1.Inconsiderationofvaryingwetsurface,thethreeDOFsnonlinearcoupledequationsareestablishedforthesparplatformundertheeffectofthefirst-orderwaveloadsintheheaveandpitch,andvortexinducedloadsintheroll.Byutilizingthemethodofmulti-scaleswhenthevortex-inducedfrequencyisclosetothenaturalrollfrequency,thefirst-orderperturbationsolutionisobtainedanalyticallyandfurthervalidatedbythenumericalintegration.Sensitivityanalysisisperformedtounderstandtheinfluenceofthedampingandtheinternaldetuningparameter.Twocaseswithinternalresonanceareshown.Thefirstcaseisthatnosaturationphenomenonexistsundersmallvortex-inducedloads.Thefirstorderperturbationsolutionillustratesthatonlythevortex-inducedfrequencymotioninrollandthesuper-harmonicfrequencymotioninheaveareexcited.Thesecondcaseisthatthevortex-inducedloadsarelargeenoughtoexcitethepitchandasaturationphenomenonintheheavemodefollows.Theresultsshowthatthereisnosteadyresponseoccurrenceforsomecases.Forthesecaseschaosoccursandlargeamplitudesresponsecanbeinducedbythevortex-inducedexcitation.
