简介:Thisstudywasconductedtocomparelipidandfattyacidcompositionofcod,haddockandhalibut.Threegroupsofcod(276g±61g),haddock(538g±83g)andhalibut(3704g±221g)weremaintainedwithcommercialfeedsmainlybasedonfishmealandmarinefishoilfor12weekspriortosampling.ThefattyacidcompositionsofmuscleandliverweredeterminedbyGC/FIDafterderivatizationofextractedlipidsintofattyacidmethylesters(FAME).LipidswerealsofractionatedintoneutralandpolarlipidsusingWaterssilicaSep-Pak.Thephospholipidfractionwasfurtherseparatedbyhigh-performancethin-layerchromatography(HPTLC)andtheFAMEprofilewasobtained.Resultsofthepresentstudyshowedthatcodandhaddockwereleanfishandtheirtotalmusclelipidcontentswere0.8%and0.7%,respectively,withphospholipidconstituting83.6%and87.5%ofthetotalmusclelipid,respectively.Halibutwasamedium-fatfishanditsmusclelipidcontentwas8%,with84%ofthetotalmusclelipidbeingneutrallipid.Totalliverlipidcontentsofcod,haddockandhalibutwere36.9%,67.2%and30.7%,respectively,ofwhichtheneutrallipidsaccountedforthemajorfraction(88.1%-97.1%).Polyunsaturatedfattyacidswerethemostabundantincodandhaddockmuscleneutrallipid.Monounsaturatedfattyacidlevelwasthehighestinhalibutmuscleneutrallipid.Fattyacidcompositionsofphospholipidwererelativelyconstant.Insummary,theliverofcodandhaddockasleanfishwasthemainlipidreserveorgan,andstructuralphospholipidisthemajorlipidforminflesh.However,asamedium-fatfish,halibutstoredlipidinboththeirliverandmuscle.
