ByusingthesimulationresultsofanAGCM,whichhadbeenrunfrom1945to1993forcedbyCOADSSST,theinterdecadalvariabilityofthemodelatmospherewasinvestigatedandcomparedwiththatofNCEPreanalysisdata.Itwasfoundthat,interdecadalvariabilityexistssignificantlyinboththetropicalPacificwindfieldsandthemid-highlatitudeatmosphericcirculationofthemodelatmosphere.Thetendencyoftimevariationandspatialdistributionsoftheinterdecadalvariabilityofthemodelatmospherearebasicallyconsistentwithobservation.Relativetothemid-highlatitudeatmosphericcirculation,thesimulationoftropicalPacificwindismoresatisfying,whichsuggeststhatanomalousvariationofSSTisstillthemainfactorfortheinterdecadalvariabilityoftropicalPacificwind.Itmighthavemoresignificantinfluenceonthetropicalwindthanonthemid-highlatitudeatmosphere.However,thereisstillobviousdifferencebetweenthesimulationandobservation.Theycouldbeattributedtoboththesimulationcapabilityofthemodelandabsenceofotherfactorsinthemodelwhichareimportantfortheinterdecadalclimatevariation.
