ABSTRACT:Westudytheevolutionofsingleellipticvortexringforinitialaspectratio(AR)=2,4,6.TheincompressibleNavier-Stokesequationsaresolvedbyadealiasedpseudo-spectralmethodwith64~3gridpointsinaperiodiccube.WefindthattherearethreekindsofvortexmotionasARincreasesandvortexbifurcationoccursatacertainAR.Theprocessesofadvection,interaction,anddecayofvortexringareanalyzed.Numericalresultscoincidewithexperimentsandothernumericalsimulations.
