Theearth-resistivitychangerecordedbeforetheJingtaiearthquake(EQ).withMs=6.2at11geoelectricstationswithin400kmoftheEQwasdiscussedinthispaper,andthefollowingconclusionsaremade:1)imminentvariationsofearth-resistivitypriortotheEQwererecordedattheWuwei,DingxiandShandanstationsimmediatelybeforetheEQ;2)therecordabilityoftheimminentvariationsatastationwasrelatedtotheactivedeepfaultsandthestronglyactivefaultsinsideandoutsidethefocalzone,andtothecausativestressfieldaswell;3)thetemporalandspatialcharacteristicsoftheearth-resistivitychangeimmediatelybeforetheEQshowedthattheEQwasprobablyinducedbytheNNWdirectionstressfield(orbyanotheroneofsimilardirection)whichwasgreatlyincreasedduringashortperiodimmediatelybeforetheEQandthatthenorthernwallofthefocalfaultplayedamajorroleintheprocessoftheEQpreparationandoccurrenceoftheEQ.
