Helicopterinspectionofultrahighvoltage(UHV)transmissionlineshasunmatchedadvantagescomparedtomanualworkduetotheinspectionangleandhigh-techequipmentonboard,especiallyindetailedinspectionsoftowerheadsanddefect-detectionsinvirtueofinfrared/ultraviolettechniques.Thispaperdealswithsomekeytechnicalproblemsintheinspectionsof1000kVUHVAClineswithahelicopter,suchasthesafedistanceoflive-lineworking,electromagneticfieldintensityandflightcontrol.Basedonthestudyresults,asetofUHVlineinspectionmethodswasworkedoutandappliedtotheinspectionofliveUHVlines.
