Inrecentyears,manyNi-containingmaterialsmanufacturedfromlateritehaveplayedasignificantroleinsupportingtherapiddevelopmentofthestainlesssteelindustryinChina.Currently,pyrometallurgyisthemainprocessforlateritesmelting,whereblastfurnacesareemployedtomakeNi-containinghotmetal.Withtheaimofgivingsomereferencesformakinggooduseoflaterite,technicalandeconomicanalysiswasconductedinthispaper,basedonthediscussionofthekeytechnologiesofNi-containinghotmetalproductionwithlaterite(50.4%Fe)inblastfurnaces.
