Basedupon3widelyusedbasemodels,atotalof8ADA/GADAsiteindexmodelswerederived.Thedataforthesemodelsinthisstudywereobtainedfrom79pith-splitstemanalysisplotsandtheestimationmethodwas"indicatorvariableapproach".Weusedbothfitstatisticsandvisualanalysistoselectthebest-fitmodel,andattachedmoreimportancetothevisualanalysis.Acomprehensiveapplicationanalysiswasalsogiventotheselectedmodel.Theresultsshowed:1)GADAoutperformedADAwithrespecttopredictions.2)AGADAmodelderivedfromHossfeldⅣpresentedthebestpredictionability.Itwassuggestedthatthemodelbeusedtopredictdominantheightandtoestimatesiteindexforponderosapinestandsranging30-200yearsinBritishColumbia,Canada.3)Thebestsiteindexagewasageof100years,baseduponrelativeerrorsofpredictions.
