Highresolutionspectralanalysisoflithiumplasmaformedbysingleanddoublelaserablationhasbeenundertakentounderstandtheplume-laserinteraction,especiallyattheearlystagesoftheplasmaplume.Inordertoidentifydifferentatomicprocessesinevolvingplasma,timeresolvedspectralemissionstudiesatdifferentinter-pulsedelayshavebeenperformedforionicandneutrallithiumlinesemittingfromdifferentlevels.Alongwiththeenhancementinemissionintensity,alargelinebroadeningandspectralshift,especiallyinthecaseofexcitedstatetransitionLiI610.3nmhavebeenobservedinthepresenceofthesecondpulse.Thisbroadeningandshiftgraduallydecreasewithincreasingtimedelay.Anotherinterestingfeatureistheappearanceofamulti-componentstructureintheioniclineat548.4nmandthesecomponentschangeconverselyintoasinglestructureatthelaterstagesoftheplasma.Themulti-componentstructuresarecorrelatedwiththepresenceofdifferentvelocity(temperature)distributionsinnon-LTEconditions.AtomicanalysesbycomputingphotonemissivitycoefficientswithanADAScodehavebeenusedtoidentifytheaboveprocesses.
