Oneofthemaindriversforintelligenttransportationsystemsissafety.Adaptivecruisecontrol,asacommonsolutionfortrafficsafety,hasextendedfromradarstocameras.Duetohighmobilityofvehiclesandunevennessofroads,thepicturequalityofcamerashasbeengreatchallengesforcamera-basedadaptivecruisecontrol.Inthispaper,animagedistortioncorrectionalgorithmisaddressed.Ourmethodisbasedonopticalflowtechnologywhichisnormallyappliedinmotionestimationandvideocompressionresearch.Wearethefirsttoattempttoadaptitinimagedistortioncorrection.Twoopticalflowapproaches,theLucas-KanademethodandtheHorn-Schunckmethod,areselectedandcompared.Theprocedureofimagedistortioncorrectionusingtheopticalflowmethodhasbeentestedbybothsynthetictestimagesandcameraimages.TheexperimentalresultsshowthattheLucas-Kanademethodismoresuitableinthecorrectionofimagedistortion.
