Toinvestigatethemechanismofsecondarycirculationsinripcurrentsystems,andtoexploretherelationshipbetweenwaveconditionsandsecondarycirculationintensity,aseriesofnumericalexperimentsisperformedusingcouplednearshorewavemodelandcirculationmodel.Intheseexperiments,theripcurrentsandsecondarycirculationsgeneratedabovebarredbeacheswithripchannelsaresimulated.Acomparisonexperimentisconductedtoinvestigatetheformationandhydrodynamicsofthesecondarycirculations.Modelresultsindicatethatthesecondarycirculationsconsistofalongshoreflowsdrivenbywaveset-upneartheshoreline,partofthefeedercurrentsdrivenbythewaveset-upoverthebars,andonshoreflowsattheendoftheripchanneldrivenbywavebreakingandconvection.Theexistenceofthesecondarycirculationbarelyaffectstheripcurrent,butnarrowsandintensifiesthefeedercurrents.Threegroupsofexperimentsofvaryingincidentwaveconditionsareperformedtoinvestigatetherelationshipbetweenwaveconditionsandsecondarycirculationintensity.Thevelocityofthealongshoreflowofthesecondarycirculationissensitivetothevariationoftheincidentwaveheightandwaterdepth.Itisalsofoundthatthealongshoreflowintensityisindirectproportiontothealongshorevariationofthewaveheightgradientbetweenthebarsandtheshoreline.
