Afacilemethodforthesynthesisofsilver-silica(Ag-SiO2)Janusparticleswithfunctionalitiessuitablefortextileapplicationsisreported.SilicananoparticlespreparedbytheStobermethodwerefunctionalizedwithepoxy,amine,andthiolgroups,whichwereconfirmedbyFouriertransforminfraredanalysis.ThefunctionalizedsilicananoparticleswereusedtoproducePickeringemulsions,andtheexposedsurfacewasusedfortheattachmentofsilvernanoparticles(AgNPs)viathelow-temperaturechemicalreductionmethod.ThemorphologyandstructureoftheAg-SiO2Janusparticleswerecharacterizedbyscanningelectronmicroscopy,scanningtransmissionelectronmicroscopy,high-resolutiontransmissionelectronmicroscopy,energy-dispersiveX-rayanalysis,andUV-visspectroscopy.Becauseoftheirspecificfunctionalities,theseAg-SiO2Janusparticlesareproposedforapplicationsontextilesubstrates,astheycanovercomeseveraldrawbacksofdirectapplicationofAgNPsontextiles,suchasleaching,agglomeration,andinstabilityduringstorage.
