TheintentofthispaperistoconceptualizephysicalliteracyintheschoolenvironmentwithintheUnitedStateseducationalsystem.Evolutionofphysicalliteracyfrombothageneraleducationanddisciplinaryfocusisoverviewed.Thechallengesoftransitioningfromaphysicallyeducatedtoaphysicallyliteratepersonastheprimarylearningoutcomeofphysicaleducationmayinhibitprogress.Fiveprioritizedrecommendationsaremadetoassistteachersinovercomingsuchbarriers:(a)wholeofschoolapproach,(b)effective,differentiatedpedagogy,(c)integrationoftechnologyforinpidualizedtrackingofprogress,(d)supportiveschoolclimate,and(e)alignmentoflocaleffortswithnationalinitiatives.
