Weedyriceexertsasevereimpactonriceproductionbycompetingforsunlight,waterandnutrients.Thisstudyassayedthepopulationstructure,geneticpersityandoriginofNortheastAsiaweedyricebyusing48simplesequencerepeatmarkers.TheresultsshowedthatweedyriceinNortheastAsiahadahighgeneticpersity,withShannon’spersityindex(I)of0.748andtheheterozygosity(He)of0.434.Ineachregionalpopulation,Ivaluevariedwidely.ThewidestrangeofI(0.228–0.489)wasobservedintheweedyriceofEasternChina,whichwaslargerthanthatofNortheastChinaandKorea(0.168–0.270).TheF-statisticsofregionalpopulations(Fis,FitandFst)alsoshowedhighervaluesintheweedyriceofEasternChinathanthoseofNortheastChinaandKorea.Allweedyriceaccessionsweregroupedintotwoclustersintheunweightedpairgroupmethodwitharithmeticmeanclusteranalysisdendrogram,namelyEasternChinabranchandNortheasternChinaplusKoreabranch.TherewassignificantdifferentiationingeneticcharacteristicsinweedyriceofnortheasternandeasternAsia,especiallyinEasternChina.
