Basedonavirtualsphericallightsourcemethod,thispaperpresentsanimprovedvirtualsphericallightsapproachforglossyilluminationbymodifyingareflectionrenderequation.First,inordertokeepprimitivesphericallights,itusesnon-zerosolidangleintegrationinsteadofageometricitemoftraditionalInstantRadiosityarithmetic.Second,theformulamodeforthelightenergyallocationofVSLsisimprovedbytheenergydistribution,inwhichtheradiusofsphereisreplacedbytheradiusofinscribedcirclegeneratedbythetangenttothenon-zerosolidangleofcone.Third,thesimilarfunctionofjudgingtwopointvisibilitytakesplaceofacosinetermintheapproximateequationsoftheVSLs.Experimentsshowthatblurringordisappearingphenomenonthatappearinpartofright-anglesurfacesceneisavoided.
