Processmodelsareveryusefultocontrolhighefficientindustrialmetallurgicalprocesses.Howevertheiraccuracydependsstronglyonthechoiceofboundaryconditionsandthermodynamicaswellaskineticdataused.WhereasthecommercialdatabaseFactSageorThermocalcisusedasthesourceofthermodynamicdatathekineticparameterarecharacteristicforeachprocessandprocessdesign.Thereforeitisessentialtoestimatethekineticparameterinwelldesignedexperimentssupportedbyusingofnumericalmethods.Inthispaperthesteelmeltflowparameter,gas-meltinterfacialareaandmasstransfercoefficientobtainedin30tindustrialgasstirredladlesaredescribed.Ontheexampleofnitrogenabsorptionanddesorptionthepredictiveprocessmodelfornitrogencontrolwhileladletreatmentanddecarburisationprocessispresentedfordifferentsteelalloys.Themodellingresultsarecomparedwithresultsfromindustrialprocesses.
