Thispapermainlysummarizestherecentprogressesforthecavitationstudyinthehydraulicmachineryincludingturbopumps,hydroturbines,etc..Especially,thenewlydevelopednumericalmethodsforsimulatingcavitatingturbulentflowsandtheachievementswithregardtothecomplicatedflowfeaturesrevealedbyusingadvancedopticaltechniquesaswellascavitationsimulationareintroducedsoastomakeabetterunderstandingofthecavitatingflowmechanismforhydraulicmachinery.Sincecavitationinstabilitiesarealsovitalissueandratherharmfulfortheoperationsafetyofhydromachines,wepresentthe1-Danalysismethod,whichisidentifiedtobeveryusefulforengineeringapplicationsregardingthecavitatingflowsininducers,turbinedrafttubes,etc.Thoughbothcavitationandhydraulicmachineryareextensivelydiscussedinliteratures,oneshouldbeawarethatafewproblemsstillremainsandareopenforsolution,suchasthecomprehensiveunderstandingofcavitatingturbulentflowsespeciallyinsidehydroturbines,theunneglectablediscrepanciesbetweenthenumericalandexperimentaldata,etc..Tofurtherpromotethestudyofcavitationinhydraulicmachinery,someadvancedtopicssuchasaDensity-Basedsolversuitableforhighlycompressiblecavitatingturbulentflows,avirtualcavitationtunnel,etc.areaddressedforthefutureworks.
