Laser-inducedbreakdownspectroscopy(LIBS)hasattractedextensiveattentionasanewtechniqueforin-situmarineapplication.Inthiswork,theinfluenceofdeep-seahighpressureenvironmentonLIBSsignalswasinvestigatedbyusingacompactLIBS-seasystemdevelopedbyOceanUniversityofChinaforthein-situchemicalanalysisofseawater.TheresultsfromthefieldmeasurementsshowthattheliquidpressurehasasignificanteffectontheLIBSsignals.Higherpeakintensityandlargerlinebroadeningwereobtainedasthepressureincreases.BycomparingthevariationsofthetemperatureandsalinitywiththeLIBSsignals,aweakcorrelationbetweenthemcanbeobserved.Underhighpressureconditions,theoptimallaserenergywashigherthanthatinairenvironment.Whenthelaserenergyexceeded17mJ,theeffectoflaserenergyonthesignalintensityweakened.Thesignalintensitydecreasesgraduallyatlargerdelays.TheobtainedresultsverifiedthefeasibilityoftheLIBStechniqueforthedeep-seain-situdetection,andwehopethistechnologycancontributetosurveyingmoredeep-seaenvironmentssuchasthehydrothermalventregions.
