Colorectalcancer(CRC)isasignificantcauseofmorbidityandmortalityworldwide.However,coloncancerincidenceandmortalityisdecliningoverthepastdecadeowingtoadoptionofeffectivescreeningprograms.Nevertheless,insomepartsoftheworld,CRCincidenceandmortalityremainontherise,likelyduetofactorsincluding'westernized'diet,lifestyle,andlackofhealth-careinfrastructureandresources.Participationandadherencetodifferentnationalscreeningprogramsremainobstacleslimitingtheachievementofscreeninggoals.Differentmodalitiesareavailablerangingfromstoolbasedteststoradiologyandendoscopywithvaryingsensitivityandspecificity.However,theavailabilityofthesetestsislimitedtoareaswithhigheconomicresources.Recently,FDAapprovedablood-basedtest(Epiprocolon?)forCRCscreening.Thisbloodbasedtestmayservetoincreasetheparticipationandadherencerates.Hence,leadingtoincreaseincoloncancerdetectionandprevention.ThisarticlewilldiscussvariousCRCscreeningtestswithaparticularfocusonthedataregardingthenewapprovedbloodtest.Finally,wewillproposeanalgorithmforasimplecost-effectiveCRCscreeningprogram.
