Asingle-particlemicrobeamfacilityhasbeenconstructedattheLaboratoryofIonBeamBioengineering(LIBB),ChineseAcademyofSciences.Thesystemisdesignedtodeliverthedefinednumberofhydrogenions,coveringarangeofenergyfrom1.0to3.5MeV,intoanareasmallerthanthenucleiofinpiduallivingcells.AccuracyoftheparticledetectionsystemandthecelltargetingsysteminthefacilityhasbeenassessedusingCR39(nucleartrackdetector)for2.3MeVprotons.Theresultsdemonstratethattheparticledetectionefficiencyisabove98%,andtheoveralltargetingaccuracyofthemicrobeamislimitedwithin3μmformorethan90%hits.
