WeproposeaBPNNbasedadaptiveslidingmodecontrolschemeforspeedtrackingofaDCmotorwithunknownsystemnonlinearities.Theinput-outputlinearizationtechniqueisusedtocancelthenonlinearities,andoutputoftheBPNNisincorporatedintothecontrollerintheproposedscheme.ItisshownthattherotorspeedofaDCmotorcanfollowanyarbitrarilyselectedtrajectoriesundervariableloadtorque.Thentheapplicationoftheapproachistestedviacomesimulations.
