Anewdoubledhaploid(DH)ricepopulationwasestablishedfromacrossbetweenWBPH-resistantjaponicaChunjiang06(CJ-06)andsusceptibleindicaTN1.SuckinginhibitoryandovicidalresistanceoftheDHricelineswereevaluatedonthebasisofnon-preferenceresponseofWBPHimmigrantsandhoneydewexcretionbyWBPHfemales,andappearanceofwaterylesionsinthenecroticdiscolorationofleafsheathsovipositiedbyWBPH,respectively.BoththemajorgeneresistancetoWBPH,suckinginhibitoryandovicidalresistance,showed1(resistant):1(susceptible)segregationratiointheDHpopulation.RelativedensityofWBPHpopulationsanddamagescoresintheDHpopulationindicatedcombinedfunctionsofboththemajorresistancegenesaswellasQTLsaffectingthehostplantresponsetoWBPHinfestations.Thus,thenewlydevelopedCJ-06/-I-N1DHpopulationcouldbeausefulmaterialtoanalyzemajorgenesandQTLsforWBPHresistanceinjaponicarice.
