Whenthesignalsreceivedbyanytwoarrayelementsarenotfullycorrelated,theperformanceofDOA(DirectionOfArrival)estimationmethodsmightdegradeiftheplane-wavemodelassumptionisstillused.Fornarrowbanduniformlineararray,byutilizingthepropertyofToeplitzmatrix,itisprovedthatthereceivedsignalscanbeexpressedasthesumofseveralplane-wavesignals,whichcanbeviewedasthe'splitting'partsofthetruesources.The'splitting'ofsourcesmakesitdifficulttoestimatethetruenumberofsources.Asaresult,spuriouspeaksmightoccurinthespatialspectrumwhensubspace-basedhigh-resolutionspatialspectrumestimationtechniqueisused.
