CrystalgrowthandsoluteprecipitationisaStefanproblem.Itisafreeboundaryproblemforaparabolicpartialdifferentialequationwithatime-dependentphaseinterface.Thevelocityofthemovinginterfacebetweensoluteandcrystalisalocalfunction.Thedendriticstructureofthecrystalinterface,whichdevelopsdynamically,requireshighresolutionoftheinterfacegeometry.ThesefactsmaketheLagrangianfronttrackingmethodwellsuitedfortheproblem.Inthispaper,weintroduceanupgradedversionofthefronttrackingcodeanditsassociatedalgorithmsforthenumericalstudyofcrystalformation.Wecompareourresultswiththesmoothedparticlehydrodynamicsmethod(SPH)intermsofthecrystalfractaldimensionwithitsdependenceontheDamkohlernumberanddensityratio.
