简介:Alaboratoryexperimentwasconductedinsideawindwavetanktoinvestigatethewaveinducedturbulence.Inthisexperiment,thewavesurfaceelevationandvelocitybeneaththewatersurfaceweremeasuredsimultaneouslytoinvestigatetherelationbetweenthewavestatusandwaveinducedturbulence.TheprofileoftheturbulentdissipationrateandReynoldsstresswerecalculatedusingexperimentaldata.Theeffectofthewavestatusonturbulenceisinvestigatedwithregardtothewindwave,swell,andmixedwaveconditions.Itwasdepictedthattheturbulencedecreasedwithincreasingdepthfromthewatersurfaceandthattheturbulencethatwasinducedbyawavewithlargerwavelengthandwaveheightismuchstrongerforthesamewavestatus.Finally,weobservedthatthewindwaveismoreeffectiveinactivatingthewaveinducedturbulence.

简介:Themotionofabubblenearthefreesurfaceissolvedbytheboundaryelementmethodbasedonthelinearwaveequation,andtheinfluenceoffluidcompressibilityonbubbledynamicsisanalyzed.Basedonthesolutionofthebubblemotion,thefar-fieldradiationnoiseinducedbythebubbleiscalculatedusingKirchhoffmovingboundaryintegralequation,andtheinfluenceoffreesurfaceonfar-fieldnoiseisresearched.Astheresults,theoscillationamplitudeofthebubbleisweakenedincompressiblefluidcomparedwiththatinincompressiblefluid,andthefreesurfaceamplifiestheeffectoffluidcompressibility.Whenthedistancebetweenthebubbleandanobserverismuchlargerthanthatbetweenthebubbleandfreesurface,thesharpwavetroughofthesoundpressureattheobserveroccurs.Withtheincrementofthedistancebetweenthebubbleandfreesurface,thetimeofthewavetroughappearingisdelayedandthevalueofthewavetroughincrease.Whenthedistancebetweentheobserverandthebubbleisreduced,thesharpwavetroughattheobserverdisappears.

简介:Estuarineprocessesinthearcticlagoonsareamongtheleaststudiedbutimportantsubjects,especiallyconsideringtherapidwarmingofarcticwaterwhichmaychangethelengthofice-freeperiodinthesummer.Inthispaper,wind-drivenexchangeflowsinthemicro-tidalElsonLagoonofnorthernAlaskawithmultipleinletsofcontrastingwidthsanddepthsarestudiedwithinsituobservations,statisticalanalysis,numericalexperiments,aregressionmodelonthebasisofdynamics,andremotesensingdata.WatervelocityprofileswereobtainedfromabottomdeployedacousticDopplercurrentprofiler(ADCP)inthenorthwesternEluitkakPassconnectingtheBeaufortSeatotheElsonLagoonduringa4.9dayice-freeperiodinthesummerof2013.Thesubtidalflowisfoundcorrelatedwithwind(R~2value~96%).Frequentlyoccurringeast,northeastandnorthwindsfromthearcticatmospherichigh-andlow-pressuresystemspushwaterfromtheBeaufortSeaintothelagoonthroughthewideinletsontheeasternsideofthelagoon,resultinginanoutwardflowagainstthewindatthenarrownorthwesterninlet.Thecounter-windflowisaresultofanunevenwindforcingactingthroughtheasymmetricinletsanddepth,aneffectof'torque'orvorticity.Undernorthwestwind,theexchangeflowatthenorthwesterninletreversesitsdirection,withinwardflowsthroughtheupwindnorthwesterninletandoutwardflowsthroughthedownwindeasterninlets.AregressionmodelisestablishedbasedonthemomentumequationsandTaylorseriesexpansions.ThemodelisusedtopredictflowsinJulyandAugustof2015andJulyof2017,supportedbyavailableLandsatsatelliteimages.About73%–80%ofthetimetheflowsatEluitkakPassareoutofElsonLagoonforthesummerof2015and2017.Numericalexperimentsareconductedtocorroboratethefindingsandillustratetheeffectsundervariouswindconditions.Aquasi-steadystatebalancebetweenwindforceandsurfacepressuregradientisconfirmed.

简介:Thesignificantunderestimationofseasurfacetemperature(SST)andthetemperatureintheupperoceanisoneofcommonproblemsinpresentclimatemodels.Theinfluenceofthewave-inducedmixingonSSTandthetemperatureintheupperoceanwasexaminedbasedonaglobalclimatemodel.Theresultsfromthemodelcoupledwithwave-inducedmixingshowedasignificantimprovementinthesimulationofSSTandthetemperatureintheupperoceancomparedwiththoseoftheoriginalmodelwithoutwaveeffects.Althoughtherehasstillacoldbias,thenewsimulationismuchclosertotheclimatology,especiallyinthenorthernoceanandtropicalocean.Thisstudyindicatesthatsomeimportantphysicalprocessesintheaccuratesimulationoftheoceanmaybeignoredinpresentclimatemodels,andthewave-inducedmixingisoneofthosefactors.Thus,thewave-inducedmixing(ortheeffectofsurfacewaves)shouldbeincorporatedproperlyintoclimatemodelsinordertosimulateorforecasttheocean,thenclimatesystem,moreaccurately.
简介:Theeffectsofwaterdepthonthewave-inducedverticalbendingmomentandshearingforceonaverylargeFPSOarestudiedbyexperimentsandcomputationsforregularandirregularwaves.TherestrictedwaterdepthcompositeGreenfunctionisemployedtodevelopaprogramforthecomputationofthehydrodynamiccoefficientsoftheverylargeFPSOatshallowwater.Athree-segmentmodelwith1:100scaleistestedintheStateKeyLaboratoryofOceanEngineeringatShanghaiJiaoTongUniversityfortheverificationofthenumericalmethod.Theexperimentalandcomputationalresultsshowthatthewaterdepthhasasubstantialeffectonwave-inducedloads.Thewave-inducedverticalloadsincreasewiththedecreaseofwaterdepthforshallowwater.Especially,forultra-shallowwatertheseloadsincreaseveryevidentlywiththedecreaseofwaterdepth.Thelong-termpredictionvaluesofwave-inducedverticalloadsincreasewiththedecreaseoftheratioofwaterdepthtodraught.Thelong-termpredictionvaluesofwave-inducedverticalloadsareabout8%largerthanthosefordeepwaterwhentheratioofwaterdepthtodraughtis3.0.However,waterdepthhardlyaffectsthelongtermpredictionvaluesofwave-inducedloadswhentheratioofwaterdepthtodraughtislargerthan5.0.
简介:Anumericalsimulationandanexperimentalstudyonvortex-inducedmotion(VIM)ofanewtypeofdeepdraftmulti-columnsfloatingdrillingproduction,storageandoffloading(FDPSO)arepresentedinthispaper.Themaindimension,thespecialvariablecross-sectioncolumnandthecabinarrangementoftheoctagonalpontoonareintroducedbasedontheresult.Thenumericalsimulationisadaptedtostudytheeffectsofcurrentincidenceanglesandreducedvelocitiesonthisplatform'sswaymotionresponse.The300mwaterdepthequivalenttruncatedmooringsystemisadoptedforthemodeltests.Themodeltestsarecarriedouttocheckthereliabilityofnumericalsimulation.Theresultsconsistofsurge,swayandyawmotions,aswellasmotiontrajectories.Themaximumswayamplitudesfordifferenttypesofoffshoreplatformisalsostudied.Themainresultsshowthatthepeakfrequenciesofswaymotionunderdifferentcurrentincidenceanglesandreducedvelocitiesvaryaroundthenaturalfrequency.TheanalysisresultofflowfieldindicatesthatthechangeofdistributionofvortexinverticalpresentssignificantinfluencesontheVIMofplatform.ThetrendofswayamplituderatiocurveofthisnewtypeFDPSOdiffersfromtheothertypesofplatform.Under45°currentincidenceangle,theswayamplitudeofthisnewtypeofFDPSOismuchsmallerthanthoseofothertypesofoffshoreplatformat4.4≤Vr≤8.9.Thetypical'8'shapetrajectorydoesnotappearintheplatform'smotiontrajectories.

简介:Aseriesofregularwaveexperimentshavebeendoneinalarge-scalewaveflumetoinvestigatethewave-inducedporepressurearoundthesubmarineshallowlyembeddedpipelines.Themodelpipelinesareburiedinthreekindsofsoils,includinggravel,sandandsiltwithdifferentburialdepth.Theinputwaveschangewithheightandperiod.Theresultsshowthattheamplitudesofwave-inducedporepressureincreaseasthewaveperiodincrease,anddecayfromthesurfacetothebottomofseabed.Higherporepressuresarerecordedatthepipelinetopandthelowerporepressuresatthebottom,especiallyinthesandseabed.Thenormalizedpressurearoundpipelinedecreasesastherelativewaterdepth,burialdepthorscatteringparametersincrease.Forthesiltseabed,thewavelettransformhasbeensuccessfullyusedtoanalyzethesignalsofwave-inducedporepressure,andtheoscillatoryandresidualporepressurecanbeextractedbywaveletanalysis.Higheroscillatorypressuresarerecordedatthebottomandthelowerpressuresatthetopofthepipeline.However,higherresidualpressuresarerecordedatthetopandthelowerpressuresatthebottomofthepipeline.
