简介:Physicalliteracy(PL),asembodiedwithinphysicaleducation(PE),hasbeenvauntedashavingincreasingimportanceasadispositionforstudentsofallabilitiestoestablishlifelongadherencetophysicalactivity.Thepurposeofthispaperwastoprovideadiscussionofhowthepedagogicalfeaturesofacontemporarypedagogicalmodel,SportEducation(SE),maybeusedtooperationalizePLinPEandwhatempiricalevidencecurrentlyexiststovalidatethisclaim.SubstantialempiricalevidenceexiststhattheattributesassociatedwiththedevelopmentofPL(Whitehead,2010)canbeoperationalizedinPEwiththeeffectiveimplementationofthemodel.SEhasdistinctpedagogicalfeatureswhichpositivelycontributetomanyofthedimensionsofPLandcanfurtheranindividuals'journeytowardsgreaterPLandhavinganembodiedselfwithinPE.Thatstated,thereremainsconcernthatthecontextforthisembodimentremainstoonarrowtobeviewedasapanaceaforthedevelopmentoflifelongphysicalactivity.SEmustbedevelopedasaconnectivespecialismifthesePLattributesaretotransformthemotivationandconfidenceforindividualstocapitalizeontheirinnatephysicalpotentialandmakeamoresignificantcontributiontothequalityoflife.Copyrightó2015,ShanghaiUniversityofSport.ProductionandhostingbyElsevierB.V.Allrightsreserved.

简介:Theconstitutionalprovisionsforeducationandtheplaceofeducationalfinancing,allovertheworld,fallwithintheframeworkofthelegalorder.InNigeria,financingofhighereducationhasevokeddramatic,aswellasideologicalandpoliticalconfrontationsinthelasttwodecadesorso.Therationalesustainingthisargumentiscompelling.Aqualityeducation,beginningwithprimaryeducation,isfundamentaltoendowindividualswiththecapacitytosuccessfullypursuetheirprivategoals,whileatthesametimeequippingthemwiththeknowledgeandskills,aswellasthevaluesandattitudes,necessarytocontributeeffectivelytotheeconomic,social,andpoliticaldevelopmentoftheirsocieties.Alltheserequireadequatefinancingofeducationatalllevels.However,ofalltheproblemsfacingNigerianeducationalsystemtoday,noneismoreagonisingandpersistentasthedwindlingfinancingofeducation,especiallyatthetertiarylevel.Thispaper,therefore,examinestheweaknessofhighereducationinstitutions(HEIs)inNigeriaintermsoftheirfinancialresourcebase.ThepaperreliesonprimaryandsecondarydatatohighlightinadequatefundingastheprimaryfactorinthemyriadsofchallengesthathavecrippledHEIsfromachievingtheirgoals.ThepapersuggestsmethodsofincreasingthefinancialstrengthoftheseinstitutionstowardsimprovingthequalityofhighereducationinNigeria.
