  • 简介:AnalvarezsauriddinosaurskeletonwasdiscoveredfromtheLateCretaceousQiupaFormationofLuanchuan,HenanProvinceofeenttralChina.ItrepresentsanewalvarezsauriddinosaurQiupanykuszhangigen.etsp.nov.AphylogeneticanalysisrecoversQiupanykusnestedwithintheunresolvedclade,whichincludesAsianandnorthAmericantaxa.Theskeletonofthenewspecimenispreservedinassociationwitheggshells.Theeggshellmorphologiesshowthattheseeggsbelongtooviraptorideggs,skeletalremainsofwhichwerediscoveredfromthesamearea.Thealvarezsauridskeletonassociatedwitheggshellfragmentsmayindicatethattheseeggswerebrokenbythestrongthumb-clawsoftheformerandthatalvarezsauriddinosaursmaybeegg-eaters.

  • 简介:ThemetasedimentaryLujiapuziFormationcropsoutalongthenortheasternmarginoftheNorthChinaCraton,closetotheYan-LiaoRift.Theageandtectonicsettingoftheformation,anditsrelationshipwiththeYan-LiaoRiftarecurrentlyunclear.HerewepresentdetritalzirconU-Pbages,andHfisotopicandgeochemicaldatafortheLujiapuziFormationtoconstrainthetimingofdeposition,theprovenanceoftheformation,andtheregionalstratigraphyrelationship.ZirconU-PbdatingconstrainsthetimingofdepositionoftheLujiapuziFormationtoyoungerthan1780Ma,andindicatesthatmostgrainsweresourcedfromtheLonggangBlockandthePaleoproterozoicLiao-JiBelt.DetailedfieldinvestigationsandacorrelationoftheregionalstratigraphyrevealthatmuchoftheLujiapuziFormationisequivalenttotheTuanshanziFormationintheYan-LiaoRift;thelowersectionmayrepresenttheearliestsedimentsdepositedwithintheFanheBasin.Basedontheseresultsandthefindingsofpreviousstudies,wesuggestthatthebaseoftheChangchengSystemhasanageof1.80Ga.ZirconHfisotopicdataindicatethatthemainperiodofcrustalgrowthalongthenortheasternmarginoftheNorthChinaCratonoccurredat3.2-2.5Ga,withapeakat2.9-2.7Ga.

  • 简介:SomeAudepositsinsouthernAnhuiProvincehaverecentlybeenfoundtobecloselyassociatedwithLateMesozoicintrusions.TypicalexamplesincludetheHua-shahAu(Sb)depositandAudepositsatZhaojialing,Wuxi,andLiaojia.InordertounderstandthemechanismsthatledtheformationoftheseAudeposits,wemakedetailedreviewsonthegeologicalcharacteristicsoftheseAudeposits.Specifically,wepresentnewLA-ICP-MSzirconU-Pbdating,alongwithelementalandHfisotopicdatafromtheHuashanAu(Sb)deposit.OurdatasuggeststhattheHuashanore-relatedintrusionswereemplacedduringtheLateJurassicandEarlyCretaceousperiods(144-148Ma).Theyarecharacterizedbyarc-magmafea-turesandhighoxygenfugacityandarerichininheritedzircons.ZirconU-PbagesandLu-HfisotopesfromintrusionssuggestthatProterozoicjuvenilelithosphereisthemainsourceoftheseintrusions.TheregionalgeologicalhistoryimpliesthatlithospherebeneathsouthernAnhuiwasproducedduringaProterozoicsubductionandwasfertilizedwithAu(Cu)intheprocess.Integratedwiththeresultsofpreviousstudies,weinferredthatLateMesozoicintrusionsformedbytheremeltingofthelithospherecouldprovidethemetalendowmentfortheAu-richdepositsinsouthernAnhui.

  • 简介:AnewootypecollectedfromtheUpperCretaceousLijiacunFormationintheShangdanBasin,ShaanxiProvinceisdescribedinthispaper.Basedongeneralexternalshape,size,eggshellthicknessandhoneycomb-likeeggshellmicrostructure,eggsarereferabletotheoofamilyFaveoloolithidae.ComparedwithothermembersofFaveoloolithidae,specimensdescribedinthispapershowspecialcharacteristics:adjacentporesareusuallyseparatedbytwoeggshellunitsbetweenwhichoftendevelopinterspaces;columnareggshellunitsarerelativelycloselyarrangedinradialview.Accordingtothesecharacteristics,weerectanewoogenusandanewoospecies:Duovallumoolithusshangdanensisoogen,etoosp.nov.ThenewdiscoveryexpandsthediversityofFaveoloolithidae.
