  • 简介:Wereportonthemodeling,simulation,andexperimentaldemonstrationofcompletemodecrossingsofFanoresonanceswithinchip-integratedmicroresonators.Thecontinuousreshapingofresonantlineshapesisachievedvianonlinearthermo-opticaltuningwhenthecavity-coupledopticalpumpispartiallyabsorbedbythematerial.Thelocallygeneratedheatthenproducesathermalfield,whichinfluencesthespatiallyoverlappingopticalmodes,allowingustoaltertherelativespectralseparationofresonances.Furthermore,weexploitsuchtunabilitytocontinuouslyprobethecouplingbetweendifferentfamiliesofquasi-degeneratemodesthatexhibitasymmetricFanointeractions.Asaparticularcase,wedemonstrateacompletedisappearanceofoneofthemodalfeaturesinthetransmissionspectrumaspredictedbyFano(Phys.Rev.124,1866(1961))Thephenomenonismodeledasathird-ordernonlinearitywithaspatialdistributionthatdependsonthestoredopticalfieldandthermaldiffusionwithintheresonator.Theperformednonlinearnumericalsimulationsareinexcellentagreementwiththeexperimentalresults,whichconfirmthevalidityofthedevelopedtheory.

  • 简介:Ininjectionmouldingproduction,thetuningoftheprocessparametersisachallengingjob,whichreliesheavilyontheexperienceofskilledoperators.Inthispaper,takingintoconsiderationoperatorassessmentduringmouldingtrials,anovelintelligentmodelforautomatedtuningofprocessparametersisproposed.Thisconsistsofcasebasedreasoning(CBR),empiricalmodel(EM),andfuzzylogic(FL)methods.CBRandEMareusedtoimitaterecallandintuitivethoughtsofskilledoperators,respectively,whileFLisadoptedtosimulatetheskilledoperatoroptimizationthoughts.First,CBRisusedtosetuptheinitialprocessparameters.IfCBRfails,EMisemployedtocalculatetheinitialparameters.Next,amouldingtrialisperformedusingtheinitialparameters.ThenFLisadoptedtooptimizetheseparametersandcorrectdefectsrepeatedlyuntilthemouldedpartisfoundtobesatisfactory.Basedontheabovemethodologies,intelligentsoftwarewasdevelopedandembeddedinthecontrollerofaninjectionmouldingmachine.Experimentalresultsshowthattheintelligentsoftwarecanbeeffectivelyusedinpracticalproduction,anditgreatlyreducesthedependenceontheexperienceoftheoperators.

  • 简介:Inthispaper,amultidimensionaltuningmethodofthesilicamicrocapillaryresonator(MCR)isproposedanddemonstratedwherebytheextinctionratio(ER)aswellastheresonantwavelengthcanbeindividuallycontrolled.AnERtuningrangeofupto17dBandamaximumtuningsensitivityof0.3dB/μmarerealizedduetothetaperedprofileofthesilicaopticalmicrofiber(MF)whentheMFisadjustedalongitsaxialdirection.Comparedtodirecttuningofthecouplinggap,thismethodcouldlowertherequirementfortheresolutionofdisplacementstagetomicrometers.WhentheMFisadjustedalongtheaxialdirectionofthesilicamicrocapillary,aresonanceshiftof3.06nmandmaximumtuningsensitivityof0.01nm/μmareachieved.Thismethodavoidstheuseofanappliedexternalfieldtocontrolthesilicamicroresonators.Moreover,whenairisreplacedbyethanolandwaterinthecoreofthesilicamicrocapillary,amaximumresonanceshiftof5.22nmisalsoachievedtofurtherenlargetheresonancetuningrange.Finally,amicrobubbleresonatorwithahigherQfactorisalsofabricatedtoachieveanERtuningrangeof8.5dB.OurmethodfullytakesadvantageoftheuniquestructureoftheMCRtoseparatelyandeasilytuneitskeyparameters,andmaybroadenitsapplicationsinopticalsignalprocessingandsensing.
