简介:TheaddedresistanceofKVLCC2inshortandregularheadwaveshasbeenstudiedtheoreticallyandexperimentally.Modeltestsareperformedtodeterminehowwelltheasymptoticformula(Faltinsenetal.1980)predictsthetypicallevelofaddedresistanceinshortwaves.Becausetheasymptoticformulaneglectstheeffectsofshipmotions,itiscombinedwiththeoreticalmethodstocalculatetheaddedresistanceinlongwavesusinganfunctiontopredicttheaddedresistanceintheintermediatewavelengthregionwherebothshipmotionsandwavereflectionareimportant.Auniquefeatureofthisexperimentisthattheshipmodelisdividedintothreesegmentstoexploretheaddedresistancedistributionwithrespecttohullsegment.Thispaperdiscussesthesensitivityofexperimentalresultstothequalityoftheincidentregularheadwaves.Moreover,anovelprocedureforanalyzingaddedresistanceisdescribed.Finally,theexperimentallydeterminedaddedresistanceofKVLCC2iscomparedwiththeoreticalresults.Itisshownthattheaddedresistancefromthecombinedtheoreticalmethodsagreeswellwithexperimentalresultsinboththeintermediateandshortwaveregions.Theuseofhullsegmentsshowsthataddedresistanceisconcentratedprimarilyatthebow.
简介:Inthispaper,addedresistancesactingonahullofnonballastwatership(NBS)inhighwavesisdiscussed.ThenonballastwatershipsweredevelopedatthelaboratoryoftheauthorsatOsakaPrefectureUniversity,Japan.Inthepresentpaper,theperformancesofthreekindsofbowshapesdevelopedfortheNBSweretheoreticallyandexperimentallyinvestigatedtofindthebestoneinhighwaves.Inpreviouspapers,anoptimumbowshapefortheNBSwasdevelopedincalmwaterandinmoderatedwaves.Fora2mmodelforexperimentsandcomputations,thewaveheightis0.02m.Thismeansthatthewaveheightis15%ofthedraftoftheshipinfullloadconditions.Inthispaper,addedresistancesinhighwavesupto0.07mfora2mmodelor53%ofthefullloaddraftareinvestigated.Insuchhighwaveslinearwavetheorieswhichhavebeenusedinthedesignstageofashipforalongtimemaynotworkwellanymore,andexperimentsaretheonlyeffectivetooltopredicttheaddedresistanceinhighwaves.Withthecomputationsforwaves,theshipisinafullycapturedconditionbecauseshorterwaves,λ/Lpp〈0.6,areassumed.
简介:Theadsorptioncapabilityofloamsoilfornano-TiO2affectedbytheamountandintensityofleachedwaterhasbeeninvestigatedbysimulatingthenaturalrainfallprocessundertheleachingcondition.Theresultsshowthattheamountandtheintensityofleachedwateraretwoimportantfactorsaffectingtheadsorptioncapabilityofloamsoilfornano-TiO2.Theresultsindicatethatthedepthoftheloamsoilcontainingamaximalamountofnano-TiO2isproportionaltotheamountofleachedwater,whileitisinverselyproportionaltotheintensityofleachedwater,ataconstantamountoftheleachedwater.Itwasalsofoundthattheadsorptioncapabilityofsoilsfornano-TiO2canbeimprovedbyaddingothermaterials,suchasdissolvedorganicmatter(DOM),bentoniteandstraw.ItwasfoundthatDOMisthebestsorbentforimprovingtheadsorptioncapabilityofloamsoilfornano-TiO2,followedbybentonite,whilestrawisnotsuitableforthemodificationofloamsoil.Theimprovementofadsorptioncapabilityofloamsoildependsontheamountoftheseadditives.Nano-TiO2canbeeffectivelyadsorbedonthesurfacelayerofloamsoilcontaininganappropriateamountofadditive.

简介:ThedistributionandtransformationofaddedandnativeNiinpurplesoilswereinvestigatedwithbothsequentialextractionprocedureandisotopictracertechnique.ThedistributionofaddedandnativeNiwasgreatlydependentonsoilproperties.LowsoilpHwasfavorableforsolubleplusexchangeable(EX)Fraction,whileFe/MnoxidesandclayforFe/Mnoxidebound(OX)andresidual(RES)fractions.TheaddedNi,however,hasnotyetreachedthedistributionequilibriumuptothe150thdayafterincubation.ThiswasreflectedinthefactthattheproportionofEXfractionfromaddedNiwas150%-600%asmuchasthatofnativeNi,whilethatofRESfractionwasonlyabout80%,Onceenteringsoil,theappliedsolubleNiwasrapidlytransformedintootherfractions,buttheorganiccomplexe(OM)fractionofaddedNiwasrelativelystableduringincubation.Thecarbonatebound(CAB)fractionshowedaprogressiveincreaseandattainedapeakvalueafter0-14dofincubationandthereafterdecreasedgradually.TheoccurrencetimeofthispeakadvancedasinitialsoilpHincreased.butthepeakwoulddisappearwheninitialsoilpHwashigherthan7.5(orcontainingfreeCaCO3).ThetransformationprocessesoftheEX,OXandRESfractionscouldbedescribedbyElovichandtwo-constantrateequations,andtheratewerepositivelycorrelatedwithsoilpH,CECandclay.ThesefindingcouldexplainwhytherearedifferencesinecologicalandenvironmentaleffectsofNiindifferentsoilsandatvariousintervals.

简介:EffectofaddedCo2+(aq)oncopperelectrowinningwasstudiedusingdopedpolyaniline(Pani)andPb-Ag(1%)anodesandastainlesssteelcathode.ThepresenceofaddedCo2+(aq)intheelectrolytesolutionwasfoundtodecreasetheanodepotentials.TheoptimumlevelofCo2+(aq)concentrationintheelectrolyte,withrespecttothemaximumsavingofpowerconsumptionwasestablished.Linearsweepvoltammetry(LSV)wasusedtostudytheinfluenceofaddedCo2+(aq)ontheanodicprocessesinacoppersulfate-sulfuricacidelectrolyte.Theoxygen-evolutionpotentialforPanianodeisdepolarisedatlowercurrentdensities(≤0.01A/cm2)andattainssaturationatρ(Co2+)o≈0.789g/L;whilsttheoxygen-evolutionpotentialforPb-Ag(1%)anodeisdepolarisedathighercurrentdensities(≤0.02A/cm2)andattainssaturationatρ(Co2+)o≈1.315g/L.Thepreferredorientationsofthecopperdepositschangefrom(220)to(111)withtheadditionof0.394?0.789g/LCo2+buthigherconcentrationsfavor(220)orientationagain.
