简介:Fingeringphenomenaarecommonoccurrenceinthenaturalworld.Itgenerallytakesplacewhenalessviscousfluiddisplacesamoreviscousfluidtypicallyinporousmedia.Nowadays,suchphenomenahaveextensivelybeenstudiedduetoitsimportanceinmanyindustrialfields.Inthispaper,theeffectsofsurfacewettabilityonfingerpatternarestudiedandsimulatednumericallybytheLatticeBoltzmannmethod(LBM).Thedisplacementefficiencyisinvestigatedbyusingtwoparameters,namely,thebreakthroughtimeandthearealsweepefficiency.Thesimulationhasdemonstratedthatsurfacewettabilitywillinfluencethefingerpatternnomatterthegravityisconsideredornot,butinthepresenceofgravity,thefingerpatternismuchmorecomplicatedandirregularduetothecoexistenceandcompetitionofcapillaryforce,viscousforceandgravity.

简介:Superdisintegrantsarecross-linkedpolymersthatcanbeusedasdispersantsforfastreleaseofdrugnanoparticlesfromnanocompositemicroparticlesduringinvitroandinvivodissolution.Currentlyavailablesuperdisintegrantparticleshaveaveragesizesofapproximately5-130μm,whicharetoobigfordrugnanocompositeapplications.Hence,productionofstablesuperdisintegrantsuspensionswithlessthan5μmparticlesisdesirable.Here,weexplorethepreparationofcolloidalsuspensionsofanionicandnonionicsuperdisintegrantsusingawetstirredmediamillandassesstheirphysicalstability.Sodiumstarchglycolate(SSG)andcrospovidone(CP)wereselectedasrepresentativeanionicandnonionicsuperdisintegrants,andhydroxypropylcellulose(HPC)andsodiumdodecylsulfate(SDS)wereusedasastericstabilizerandawettingagent/stabilizer,respectively.Particlesizing,scanningelectronmicroscopy,andzetapotentialmeasurementswereusedtocharacterizethesuspensions.Colloidalsuperdisintegrantsuspensionswerepreparedreproducibly.Theextensiveparticlebreakagewasattributedtotheswelling-inducedsofteninginwater.SSGsuspensionswerestableevenintheabsenceofstabilizers,whereasCPsuspensionsrequiredHPC-SDSforminimizingparticleaggregation.Thesefindingswereexplainedbythehigherabsolute(negative)zetapotentialofthesuspensionsoftheanionicsuperdisintegrant(SSG)ascomparedwiththoseofthenonionicsuperdisintegrant(CP).
简介:Theeffectofwettabilityonpolymerbehaviorinporousmediaisinvestigatedthroughaseriesofsyntheticpolymerfloodsconductedinwater-andoil-wetBentheimandBereasandstonecores.Anewexperimentalsetupisusedinwhichthecoreeffluentpolymerconcentrationsarenotmeasuredduringpolymerflooding,butinsteadarepassedthroughacapillarytubethatisconnectedtothecoreoutlet.Usingthenotionofintrinsicviscosity,anapproximateexpressionispresentedthatcanbeusedtodeterminethebreakthroughtimeoftheinjectedpolymersolution.Inaddition,polymeradsorption,inaccessibleporevolume,andapparentviscositiesareevaluatedforallcoresandwettingconditions.Ingeneral,inthepresenceofresidualoil,theoil-wetcoresdisplaythelowestdegreeofpolymerretention(Berea)andthelowestinaccessibleporevolume-IPV(Bentheim).ThelargestwettabilityimpactonthepolymerbehaviorinporousmediaappearstobefortheBereaformation;polymerretentioninoil-wetcoresdecreases90%andIPV52%comparedtothecorrespondingamountsforthewater-wetones.Ontheotherhand,theestimatedpolymerretentionandIPVvaluesappeartobesimilarfortheoil-andwater-wetBentheimcores,thisisattributedtoquestionablewettabilityalteration.
