Theaimofthisinvestigationistostudyhowtouseagravimetric(quasi)geoidforlevellingbyGPSdatainanoptimalway.TheadventofprecisegeodeticGPShasmadetheuseofatechniquepossible,whichmightbecalledGPS-gravimetricgeoiddetermination.Inthisapproach,GPSheightsabovethereferenceellipsoidaredeterminedforpointswhoselevelled(orthometric)heightHisabovesealevelpeoplehavealreadysurveyed;forthesepoints,wethushavethevaluesofthegeoidundulationN.ThesevaluesarethenusedtoconstrainthegeoidundulationsN′obtainedfromthegravimetricsolution.
