Submergedvegetationhasasignificantimpactonwaterflowvelocity.Currentinvestigationsincludetheimpactthroughaddingdragresistanceandincreasingbottomroughnesscoefficient,whichcannotelucidatethecharactersofrealsubmergedvegetation.Toevaluatetheeffectsofsubmergedvegetationonwatercurrentsatdifferentvelocities,alaboratoryexperimentwasconductedusingthreekindsofvegetations.Theeffectiveheightsofthesevegetationsonvaryingflowvelocitieswereevaluated.AnequationdescribingtherelationshipbetweenthenormalizedresistanceofthesubmergedplantsandtheReynoldsnumberbasedontheplanteffectiveheightwasthenestablishedandusedtocalculatethehydraulicresistanceparametersofsubmergedplantsindifferentstagesofgrowth.
