  • 简介:Thispaperdealswithacomparativeresearchbetweentwoprocessesofgranulation,namelymini-pelletizedsintering(MPS)andhybridpelletizedsintering(HPS),focusingonaspectssuchastheballingeffect,production,quality,andmineralographyandmetallurgicalperformanceofsinter.Theresultsindicatethatbothmethodscanresultinasatisfyingcapabilityinballingeffectandmetallurgicalperformanceofsinter,qualifiedtomeettheplantproductionrequirements,butwhenthegranulationtimeandgranulatingmoisturearesettoaround6minutesand7.0%respectively,MPSisbetterthanHPS.

  • 简介:Multiphaseflowcontrolwithelectromagneticbraking(EMBr)iswidelyusedinthecontinuouscastingofsteelslabs.Thebasicaimoftheflowcontrolsystemoftheprocessistodelivermoltensteelfromtheladlethroughthetundish,uppertundishnozzle,slidegate,andsubmergedentrynozzleintothemoldregionwithminimaldefects.Thisrequirestheoptimizationofturbulencelevelsatameniscustoavoidbothanexcessivelyfastflow(whichcreateshighfluctuationsofthemeniscuslevelinadditiontoslagentrapment,surfacenonuniformities,andsurfacedefects)andinsufficientslowflow(whichleadstomeniscussolidification,inadequatefluxinfiltration,andsurfacedefects).Inthisstudy,aEulerian-LagrangianapproachisusedtoinvestigatetheeffectsofEMBrandArbubbleinjectiononthesurfaceflowvelocity.TheresultsshowthathighArinjectionratescanleadtoanincreaseinsurfacevelocity.

  • 简介:Incontinuousannealinglines/hotgalvanizing,stripsareguidedbyupperandlowerrollsinanalternateupanddownverticalmotion.Thiskindofprocessconsistingofheating,soaking,andcoolingfurnaces(orzones)hasseveraladvantagesintermsofproductivityandproductquality.Mainproblemsencounteredincontinuousannealinglinesaremisguidingandformationofbuckling.Thestripbucklingcausesthestriptoberejectedand,intheworstcase,thestripbreaksandthecontinuousannealinglinesarecompelledtostop.Inthispapertheelastic-plasticmodelofthestriptravelingandthecorrespondingboundaryconditionwereconstructeddependantonthetheoryofmechanic.Simulationsareperformedintwosteps.First,ahomogeneouslongitudinaltensilestressisappliedatoneendofthestrip,theotherendofthestripandtherollarerestricted.Inthesecondstep,theappliedtensionremainsconstant.Auniformdisplacementisappliedtotheotherendofthestripandarotationtotheroll.Thetransversecompressivestress,thebucklingformationduringstriptravelingprocess,thelocationforthebucklingtakingplaceandthebucklingcriterionwereinvestigatedsystematically.Theresultshowsthatthetransversecompressivestressincreaseswiththeincreaseofthetensilestressandthecrownofthetaperedroll.Becausethecontactareabetweenthetaperedrollandthestripincreasewiththedecreaseofthecrown,thetensilestressdistributionismorehomogeneousinthetransversedirectionofthestrip.Anadditionaltransversecompressivestressiscreatedandabucklingisalsoobservedduetothefrictionduringthestripmotioninthesecondstep.Oncethebucklingisappearance,itisveryhardtoberemovedonlythroughdecreasingtheappliedlongitudinaltension,becausethestripwrinklestillkeepshighlevelduetotheeffectofthebuckledstrip,thewrinklewouldevolveintobucklingeventually.Thebucklingformationprocesspredictedbythefiniteelementmodelisverysimilartothose

  • 简介:Whenliquidsteelslagproducedfromsteelmakingprocesswastreatedintothepost-coldslagbyconventionalmethods,thegreatdealofslagheatwasdissipatedintotheenvironment,causingalotofenergywasteandenvironmentalpollution.Inthisstudy,anovelapproachofdirectutilizationofhotsteelslagasarawmaterialandslagheatfortheproductionofglass-ceramicswasproposedandexperimentallytested.Inordertosimulateliquidslagfromsteelmakingelectricfurnace,40%water-quenchedslagwasremeltedat1450℃andthenmixedwith60%meltingadditives(silicapowder,aluminapowderandsodiumoxide,etc.)andsubsequentlymeltedtogetherat1500℃for1hintomodifiedliquidslagwhichwascast,heat-treated,annealedandtransformedintoglass-ceramics.Theheat-treatedglasssampleswereinvestigatedusingdifferentialthermalanalysis(DTA),X-raydiffraction(XRD),andscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM).Theresultsshowthatdominantcrystallinephaseisdiopside[CaFe(SiO3)2]andtheshapeofthecrystalislikethegranule,diameterisabout0.2-0.6μm.Aglass-ceramicwithnucleationtemperatureof695℃fortwohoursandcrystallizationtemperatureof893℃foronehourand1163℃forhalf-hourexhibitedthebestcombinationofproperties.Thismethodofslagmixedwithmeltingadditivestoadjustthecompositionoftheparentglassisimportantfortheindustrialproductionofglass-ceramicsbydirectutilizationofhotsteelslag.

  • 简介:CuprecipitationbehaviorsintwoCu-bearingausteniticantibacterialstainlesssteels,type304andtype317L,weresystematicallystudiedbyusingrelativelysimplemethodsformaterialsanalysis,includingmicro-hardness,electricalresistivity,electrochemicalimpedancespectroscopy,X-raydiffractionanddifferentialscanningcalorimetry.Theresultsindicatedthatafteragingatelevatedtemperature,themicro-hardness,electricalresistivity,electrochemicalimpedanceandlatticeconstantofthesteelwereallvariedatdifferentdegreesduetotheprecipitationandgrowthofCu-richphases.TheresultsalsoshowedthattheheatevolutionduringtheprocessofCuprecipitationcouldbesensitivelydetectedbymeansofdifferentialscanningcalorimetry,obtainningthestartingtemperature,peaktemperature,peakareaoftheCu-richprecipitation,andeventheactivationenergybycalculation.TheresultsconfirmedthattheCu-richphasedprecipitationintheCu-bearingausteniticantibacterialstainlesssteelshouldbeathermalactivationprocesscontrolledbyCudiffusion.AllthematerialsanalysismethodsusedinthisstudycanbemoresimpleandeffectiveforapplicationinR&DoftheCu-bearingantibacterialstainlesssteels.

  • 简介:High-temperatureperformancetestsofchromium-containingstuffingsandforasteelladlewithdifferentratioswereperformed.Ahigh-temperaturesimulationtestfurnacewasusedtoanalyzetheinfluenceofthecompositionratioofladlefillersandandsinteringtimeonthehigh-temperaturecompressionresistanceofchromium-containingstuffingsandinthetemperaturerangeof1500-1600℃.Theresultsshowthattherefractorinessofladlefillersandwasthelowest(only1610℃)whenthecompositionratioofchromitesandandsilicasandwas6∶4.Moreover,thehigh-temperaturecompressionresistancewashighwhenthecontentofchromitesandwasat70%;theresistanceincreasedwithincreasingsinteringtime.Whenthesinteringtimewasextendedatatemperatureof1600℃,thehigh-temperaturecompressionresistanceofladlefillersandfirstincreasedandthendecreasedafterbeingoverburnt.

  • 简介:Thechargingpatternmayaffectblastfurnacepermeability,cokeratio,andthefreedomtoselectlow-graderawmaterials.Ore-cokemixedchargingisapotentialtechniqueforoptimizingthechargingpattern.Inrecentyears,chargingsmall-sizedcoke(nutcoke)intotheburdenlayerhasbeenappliedtosaverawmaterialsanddecreasecost.Althoughmixedcharging,especiallyaddingnutcokeintotheburdenlayer,mayhavemanyadvantages,themechanismsandsideeffectsofnutcokeusearenotwellunderstood,andthemixingratioisstilllimitedinindustrialblastfurnaceoperation.Inthisstudy,thestatusofmixedcharging,especiallynutcokeusedinblastfurnaces,wasinvestigated.Acoldflowmodelwasestablishedtostudythepermeabilityofthepackedbedintheblastfurnace"dryzone"underdifferentconditionswiththeaimofbetterunderstandingthemechanismsofmixingcokeandnutcokeintotheburdenlayer.Theeffectofcokesize,mixingcokeratio,layernumbers,andgasflowrateonthepressuredropofthepackedbedwasinvestigated.Theexperimentalresultsshowthatmixingthenutcokeintheorelayersdecreasesthepressuredroptodifferentextentsdependingonmixingratio.

  • 简介:Inordertoutilizetheadvantageofoxidesinstainlesssteel,theformationoftitaniumnitride(TiN)andoxide(TixOy)inthe17CrsteelwasinvestigatedbythecalculationofthefreeenergyofreactionandthermodynamiccalculationwithThermo-calcsoftware.Theresultindicatesthatthecompetitivereactionbetweenthedissolved[O]andthedissolved[N]withthedissolved[Ti]inmoltensteelresultsindifferentprecipitationsequencesofTiNandTixOy.TheprimaryprecipitationofTiNrequiresalow[O]andtheprimaryprecipitationofTixOyrequiresalow[N].Theincreaseof[Ti]causesahigherprecipitationtemperatureofTiNandTixOyinbothTi-NandTi-Oalloysystems.Equilibriumrelationsof[Ti]vs[N]and[Ti]vs[O]showthatthesolubilityproductsfallwiththedecreaseofthetemperature,andthentheprecipitationoftheinclusionsbecomeseasier.IntheTi-Oalloysystem,ahigh[O]andalow[Ti]arefavorabletotheprecipitationofTi3O5,andahigh[Ti]contentandalow[O]favorabletotheTi2O3precipitation.
