  • 简介:Themainrequirementsforcurrentmedicalpracticeincludetheabilitytosolvecomplexmedicalproblemsandtohandlemedicaldevices.Asaresult,graduatesofmedicineareexpectedtohaveanadequatelevelofphysicalandtechnicalliteracy.Theaimofourstudywastofindouthowstudentsofmedicine,aftercompletingthesubjectBiophysics,solveamodelproblemfrommedicalpracticeandthefactorsthatcanaffectthecorrectnessoftheirsolution.Onehundredandtwenty-ninestudentswereaskedtorespondtothefollowingproblem:“Atfirstsight,astethoscopeappearstobeingoodcondition(bell,diaphragm,andtransfersystem)butyoudonothearanythingduringauscultation.Givereasons.”Alloftheanswerswerecategorisedandevaluatedquantitativelyandqualitatively.Thestudentswerenotabletocomprehensivelysolvethisproblem.Theyreliedontheirknowledgeofthemethodologyofmeasurementratherthanonthephysicalprinciplesofthemedicaldevice.Thesolutionssignificantlydependedongenderandtheirexperiencebeforeenteringmedicalschool.Therefore,weproposetheuseofproblem-basedlearningthatfocusesonrealpracticeproblemsintheteachingprocessatschoolsofalllevels.Implementingthismethodofteachingoverthelong-termwillenablestudentstofindtherightalgorithmforproblem-solving.

  • 简介:Background:Physicaleducation(PE)isakeychannelthatimpactschildren'sdecisionsandbehaviorsforhealthfulliving.Thisstudyevaluatedtheeffectsofaconcept-basedPE(CBPE)instructionalunit,featuredbyenergybalance(EB)education,onstudents'knowledgelearning,situationalinterest,cognitive,andphysicalengagementsaswellasteachers'perceptions.Methods:Fourthand5thgradestudents(n=468)inamid-westernstateoftheUnitedStateswererecruitedastheparticipants.FourelementaryschoolswererandomizedtotheCBPEorcontrolgroups.Students'EBknowledge,situationalinterest,cognitiveengagement,andphysicalengagementweremeasuredbyaknowledgetest,theSituationalInterestScale—Elementary,writtentasksheets,andaccelerometers,respectively,whileteachers'perceptionsoftheCBPEunitwerecapturedbyindividualinterviewsattheendoftheexperiment.Results:TheCBPEgroupshowedasignificantincreaseinEBknowledge,whilethecontroldidnot.Bothgroupsshowedasimilarincreasingtrendforsituationalinterestovertime,althoughthestatisticalresultsfavoredthecontrolgroup.Forphysicalengagement,theCBPEgroupdemonstratedastatisticallydifferentbutsubstantivelysimilarlevelofin-classphysicalactivitycomparedtothecontrolgroup.TheCBPEgroupalsoshowedamoderatelevelofcognitiveengagementthroughouttheunit.ThePEteachersreportedoverallpositiveperceptionsaboutteachingtheCBPEunit.Conclusion:TheseresultssupporttheutilityoftheCBPEunitinenhancingEBeducationalongwithfacilitatingpositivestudentinterestandengagementaswellaspositiveteachingexperiences.

  • 简介:Currentmedicalstudentsneedanongoingbasisofupdatedskillsandknowledgetobecompatiblewiththedevelopmentofhealthcaresystemsinthehospitals.Thestudentengagementinthinkingaboutthebetterwayforlearninganewinformationandskillswillcreatesafeandcomfortablelearningenvironment,whichactasagoldenkeytostartingpoint,leadingtohighestqualitylearningoutcomes.Themedicaleducationinstructorshouldrecognizethee-learningtechnologygadgetsuitedtherequiredlearningenvironmentandcompatiblewithintendedlearningobjectivesforeachlecture.Nodoubtthattheinstructorplaysavitalroleinthestudentsupport,whichneedsanintellectualeffortstoprovidethemwithappropriateneedsandguidestudentstobecomeactiveandcreativemembersintheuniversity,theirprofession,andcommunity.Thisresearchaimstofindoutwhatistheimpactofelectroniccourses(e-courses)ininstructionalsupport,toincreasemedicalstudents’enthusiasm.AcrosssectionaldescriptiveanalyticalstudyconductedinKingSaudUniversity,Riyadh,KingdomofSaudiArabia(KSA),thestudypopulationwasundergraduateradiologicalsciencesstudents.Awell-designedquestionnairewasdistributedtostudentsandthenreceivedtheirfeedback.Inthefirstpartofthecourse,theyexposedtotraditionalmethods,whileintheremainingpart,thee-learningandinteractivelectureswereintroduced.StatisticalanalyseswereperformedwithStatisticPackageforSocialScience(SPSSsoftwareversion20).Outof50students,31(62.0%)preferredtheinteractivepowerpointsfiles,33(66.0%)moreenthusiastictouselearningmanagementsystem(LMS)tofindouttheircoursecontents.Regardingthelevelofstudentssatisfactionindifferenttypesofpre-test,30(60.0%)studentswereunsatisfiedwhenusingpaperandpenstyle,while38(76.0%)weresatisfiedwhenperforminganelectronictests.Twenty-nine(58.50%)favouredaninteractivemindmapforeachlecturecontents.Majorityofstudentsdecidedthatbothclassicalandelectronicinst

  • 简介:ThisresearchexaminesEnglishteachingandlearningatMadrasasinBangladesh.ThisstudyemploysaqualitativeapproachandattemptstoidentifytheproblemsintheprogramsthatdebarfromachievingexpectedEnglishlearningoutcome.Weconductedasemi-structuredinterviewwithinterviewees,includingrelevantMadrasateachers,trainers,traineeteachers,Educationofficers,andEnglishresourcepersonsatNationalAcademyforEducationalManagement(NAEM),DhakaTeachers’TrainingCollege(TTC),andBangladeshMadrasaTeachers’TrainingInstitute(BMTTI)locatedinDhaka.WefoundthatteachertrainingforEnglishlanguagelearningisurgentlyrequired.CurriculumandsyllabusinEnglishneedtobemadethefocusonfourskills—reading,writing,speaking,andlistening.Leadingedgetechnologyisidentifiedasanindispensableitemforlearners.TherecruitingsystemofEnglishteachersneedstobereformed.ThebestpracticewouldbetaggedittoBangladeshPublicServiceCommission(BPSC),soastogeteffectiveandqualifiedteachers.Thisstudyidentifiedthesupervisoryandadministrativedeficiencies.Toimprovemonitoring,supervisionprocesses,student-friendlyMadrasaadministration,andMadrasamanagingcommitteeisaninstrumental.

  • 简介:Specialeducationisachallengingareaofeducation,astraditionalinstructionstrategiesneedtobeappropriatelyadjustedtomatchtheindividuals’needsresultingfromvarioustypesoflearningandotherdisabilities(LD).Amongarangeofsubjects,thepaperfocusesonscienceeducationforLDstudentsanditelaboratesontwogroupsofadaptationsfrequentlydiscussedintheliterature,whichinvolvematerialsalternativetotextbook.Wehavecarriedoutaliteraturereviewbyusingapoolofreviewarticlesfromthe“BibliographyObservatory”databasedevelopedbytheUniversityofThessaly,Greece.Wehereinpresentthesumoftheresearchactivityprimarilyfromthepastdecades(post1980s),pertainingtotechnologyassistedadaptationsandhands-onactivities/laboratoryinstruction.ThisanalysishasshownthatthereisanincreasingresearchinterestinsuchadaptationsbothchronologicallyandmostimportantlyprovidesevidenceoftheadvantagestheseadaptationsoffertoLDstudents.
